Gun Control Policy Outline
Thesis Statement: Gun control policies that put more restraint on gun ownership is the solution to the increasing rate of gun-related crimes in the country.
I. Introduction.
a. In the recent past, there has been a critical debate on the topic of Gun policies, their outcome, and the standard of regulations pertaining to gun ownership.
b. However, when all is said and done, more policies that are restrictive serve a better elucidation regarding gun malpractices.
II. Background information
· The US records the highest number of gun-related crimes in the world
· Laws of gun control continually conflict with other constitutional rights
· Guns have a cavernous cultural and traditional root in the country
· The misuse of guns is at an alarming rise
III. Despite the right to gun ownership for protection over the years, crimes do not seem to reduce
· There no considerable substantiation of how gun ownership helps in protection from crimes
· Gun owning persons are victims of gun deaths
· Crime is strategic and premeditated and thus having a gun cannot offer ultimate protection
· More crimes have been recorded in the lineate gun ownership era than prior
IV. With the alarming rate of mental health illnesses and psychological problems, gun ownership should be more constrained.
· There is a strong link between mental illness and firearm violence
· Mental illness is one of the reading health concerns in the country
· Lack of somber judgment accelerates the probability of wrong use of guns
· Homicide, genocide especially to close people is as a result of depression and guns are regular weapons
V. It has proved impracticable to monitor the use of guns by the federal owners, as well as appropriately decide on who should possess one
· Most gun owners have confessed to misusing them at one point.
· Most teenagers can access guns from the adults
· A huge percentage of those owning guns have given fictitious reasons
· Registered firearms sellers routinely partner with criminals for business
VI. Unimpeded ownership of gun makes the security work more intricate and unsafe
· Most policemen killed by civilians while on duty was with the use of guns
· It is harder to spot criminals when many people own guns
· Gun ownership nullifies people need to involve the police in case of danger
· Its harder to differentiate murder and self-defense
VII. Refutation/ Opposing Statement
· Guns do not kill people do
· Gun ownership is a traditional and cultural right
· Second amendment right of self-defense
· Psycho criminals will always create ways to have guns
Nevertheless, guns are the most lethal weapons thus other weapons ownership can be more lineate and still restrict guns
VIII. Conclusion
· It is more common for a customary citizen owning a gun to use it in their own household than ever fighting criminals
· Countries with more regulated gun ownership record lesser crimes
· Guns only make bad situations worse
· Despite the other methods of minimizing crimes, gun restriction is paramount.
