Description
Step 1: The Introduction
You are to introduce your child (do not use real names—this is to be an imaginary child) and describe his/her abilities based upon the three domains of development (physical, cognitive, and social/emotional development). The physical growth must include health conditions, motor development, and overall physical abilities. The cognitive developmental domain includes thinking, reasoning skills and language development. The social/emotional developmental domain includes changes in emotion, self-concept and interpersonal relationships. Child’s age, gender and grade level must be included in your introduction. Any challenges due to physical, cognitive, and psychosocial domains of your child must also be mentioned and explained.
Step 2: Describe the challenge
Further discuss your child’s individual differences as it pertains to his/her environment.
Explain behaviors that the child is likely to display. Based on our readings, developmental, and theoretical support (Ex: Cognitive Theory: Piaget, Vygotsky… Psychosocial: Freud, Erikson…etc.) compare your child to the developmental theory you have chosen to describe him/her, while noting any discrepancies the child demonstrates.
Explain why and how you think there is a difference between the normal developmental criteria and the behavior your child demonstrates.
Step 3: Conclusion
Make sure you summarize your paper in the conclusion section. In your conclusion, you should re-iterate the important points in your paper and the deduction that you have reached based on evidence and research findings.
Overall Requirements:
The child you choose for your project must be in the newborn to 16-year-old age group. Three full page maximum are the requirement to cover all the above areas (not including the reference page). Proper use of citation (APA) and a page of references are required. Part A will be scored based on all the steps being followed, completeness, clarity of writing, and level of critical thinking.
Note: A two-point penalty will be applied to the over all grade if more than three pages.
