Leadership in Human Services Profession
In this week’s reading, basic concepts are Resilience, Mindfulness, Burouts, Secondary Traunnatic stress, Psychological Distress Among Human Services Professionals, Mindfulness, Meditation, Dialogue, Debate, Converse, and Persusation and Agreement.  
· Resilience is the ability to learn skills quickly, such as social connections, setting and achieving goals, communication, problem-solving, flexibility, empathy, and impulse control. 
· Mindfulness is focusing on what is important, self-observation.
· Burnouts and Secondary Traumatic Stress relate to work environment and emotional duress.
·  Psychological Distress Among Human Services Professionals relates to everyday actives, coping with other people’s lives.
· Mindfulness practice is self-observation without judgment, clearing your mind of clutter, focusing on what is important, and being creative.
· meditation- training your mind
· Dialogue- exploration towards greater understanding, connection, or possibility
· Debate – leads to misleading and counterproductive
· Converse- build ideas together, acknowledging
· Persuasion and agreement –  respect, trust, and goodwill (right and wrong)
· Participants- allowing everyone points of view, the interaction of goals, and contributing to what they think should be done
Each of these basic concepts affects the framing/understanding of leadership within the Human Services Profession with one goal in mind.  Helping the organization be successful in servicing the community.  Providing a connection between different agencies that help and ensures that strategic plans are working towards clients’ needs.  
In human services, collaboration over organizational and professional boundaries could be organized through liaison positions, actions, and work norms(Nylen, U2018).  Human services professionals work together to strengthen the overall collaborating between different departments and provide resources to enhance the community’s needs.  The framing and understanding of the basic concepts help the human services professionals work together and draw conclusions that provide adequate resources for the client’s needs.  Understanding others’ views and the ability to function within the professional rum allows human services workers to see how their views also affect the community’s needs.

Leadership in Human Services Profession

This week’s reading brought lots of insight on leadership in the human services field. Human services is so broad that you are able to work in schools, hospital setting, CMHC’s, different clinics and organizations. Human Services as defined by the National Organization for Human Service focuses on helping individual problem solve and educate on prevention solutions. In this field we are able to inspire, empower and help individuals improve their overall quality of life.
I have learned that leadership is also important in the human service profession field. There are different types of leadership and sometimes there are some conflicts that require one to go above and beyond. This can cause leaders to burn out, get stressed and feel overwhelmed. Understanding this field is essential as we would need to develop coping skills to help our clients. This week gave an insight on mindfulness. Mindfulness is being open minded and aware that there are things we have no control. The ability to be mindful allows one to sit back and assess if self-care is needed. Self-care is important because one cannot pour into someone else from an “empty cup.” Self-care is overall the key to be able to think clearly and be mindful. This will allow you to be an effective leader.
