Think of a Management Information System Business Performance Management Question or
Issue or Problem that you would need to prepare to discuss with your CEO.
Determine what you would like to measure within that Performance Management
Question/Issue/Problem.
Write a Business Question or Problem Statement around the Question/Issue/Problem
Pick a set of bulk data that is relevant for you Question/Issue/Problem
Explain how you are going to prepare it for analysis in TABLEAU to begin your analysis of the
Performance Management question you have chosen.
Then in the lab sessions (2nd half of class time) and for ongoing homework:
➢ Find the relevant data
➢ Prepare the data
➢ Import the data into Tableau Public
➢ Run your chosen analyses in Tableau
➢ Visualize your results – pick the
best fit visualization feature for
your business audience.
Using the Storyline feature of TABLEAU PUBLIC, compile/prepare an Executive Dashboard
(storyline) of the chosen visualizations you have compiled.
Then prepare a final REPORT from your analysis, visualizations, executive dashboard and
result(s) obtained from working in TABLEAU (minimum 5 pages, maximum 10, single spaced,
12 Point, APA format) that you will use to present to your CEO. This will help him make a long
term Business Decision. 2
The report should prove or disprove your hypothesis from your original
Question/Issue/Problem Statement, or tell what insights you have gained or
recommendation(s) you can give, from the datasets held by the Organization. The report
should be structured as follows:
Cover page
Executive Summary
Table of Content
Introduction
Body of Report – (5 pages at least) –
Data used – source of data
Methodology
Visualizations
Analysis of and for each set of data as visualized
Overall Findings
Recommendations
Conclusion
Works sited/References
Appendices
NOTE 1: All of the background work from the preparation steps above needs to be attached as
Appendices to the report.
NOTE 2: Attach a Cover Page to your report with your Name, Student Number; Course Name;
Course Number; Section; Semester and MID-TERM #2.
NOTE 3: Bind all of your pages and hand them in.
