I’d like an overview of what qualitative research entails. Once thats done move on to giving a full picture of phenomenology. Why is it used? Where did it come from? What is the philosophy behind it? Once you’ve presented a thorough discussion of phenomenology talk about other qualitative research designs what they entail and why they each were not chosen in the particular case of your proposed study. Research topic: Examining the Role of Servant Leadership on the Culture and Climate of High Poverty Elementary Schools: A Qualitative Investigation Problem Statement: The problem to be addressed by this study is the lack of a systematic approach to developing school leaders to positively affect school climate. Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study is to examine the role of servant leadership practices on the culture and climate of inner-city elementary schools through staff members’ lived experiences and to subsequently determine if servant leadership should be used as a systematic leadership training for school leaders. In addressing the central question the lived experiences of teachers will be explored to determine the characteristics and impact of demonstrating servant leadership in a school setting. Research questions: To explore if servant leadership theory should be used as the systematic approach for developing school leaders in to positively influence culture and climate within educational institutions the following research questions will guide this study: Central Question: In the lived experiences of the teachers at a high-poverty elementary school what are the characteristics and impact of demonstrating servant leadership in the school setting? RQ1 In the perception of teachers how does the implementation of servant leadership impact school culture? RQ2 In the perception of teachers how does the implementation of servant leadership impact school climate? RQ3 In the perception of teachers what traits of servant leadership are exemplified in the school setting?
