Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been debated for years since its plan. The plan aims to transform the whole into a better place for humankind by 2030. The united nation also adopted it in 2015 has been doing everything to achieve the goals stated in the SDGs. Though it seems an excellent plan achievable, some think it cannot succeed by strategies lied to achieve its objectives. Already some of the strategies are working fine and seem to be authentic. It is possible to achieve this vision.  This paper will argue why the SDGs plan will be achieved its objective by discussing the two different goals of the seventeen goals in the SDGs.
The mortality rate of children at the age of five years and below is decreasing rapidly globally. Every country in the world is trying to curb the causes of the mortality of children. These causes include a poor diet, poor medication, and diseases. An organization such world bank and the world health organization (WHO) are the frontlines in educating people through means of early childhood care. They are financing many projects, especially for women, to help to take of children and hospitals.  The statistics collected show a decrease in mortality. According to the united nations (UN) 2020 report,  the mortality rate reduced from 12.5 million to 5 million globally (2020). In 2019 lowest cases of mortality were recorded.  These show an effort towards the target of SDGs of the mortality rate of 25 deaths in 1000 lives which can be achieved with effort countries are putting on the healthcare for children.
Pregnancies among children between the age of fifteen and nineteen years have reduced globally. This has been achieved through contraceptives and sex education among the adolescent groups.  People have access to sexual health care and affordable contraceptives regardless of age. Therefore, one can decide when to reproduce and have sex, without complication keeping their sexual and reproductive health. Contraceptive and improved access to health have reduced sexually transmitted infection. It has prevented unwanted pregnancies. These indicate that SDGs’ goal is to have access to health and reproduction plans. Furthermore, now every government, plus support from the non-government organization, is working hard toward providing good health for their citizens.
Women have shown their wiliness to take over leadership at all levels of leaders. They have been competing with men in political rallies all over the world. Women have shown their strength, power, and capability to lead as men. Constitutions of a different nation constitute the law that all genders are equal and should be treated equally. Women have taken high ranks in big organizations as managers, supervisors, directors, and other high posts. They have proved that all gender is equal and not limited by the genders by winning political seats over men. An example of female political leaders, president Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaite, won with a 68% majority recording the highest marginal victory in the Lithuania presidential election.
In academics, women have also proven they can compete with men and be better. Especially in the developing, those problems with girlchild education were hindered by cultural beliefs. Government and non-government agencies have intervened to equal education for all children. ShareThis is an indication that equity is almost attained for the education of all genders in society. The goal is to bring equity to gender. It has already been attained in terms of education. All genders have equal rights to education; no gender is superior to the other.
I will agree with those who have been criticizing SDGs. The plan is faced with some challenges that make it seem impossible to attain the goal. In sub-Saharan regions, health care is poor, with increased pregnancies among adolescents. Covid-19 had a significant effect on the developments that were already put in place to achieve this. It has slowed the healthcare facilitation and infrastructure in the health centers. Especially in the developing economy, it seems to be another challenge toward achieving the 2030 vision. Nevertheless, these are being taken care of by the government and non-government geared towards achieving the vision. The challenges have already been noticed, and everything is being done to ensure the mission does not fail.
