Case Presentations

Instructions : Get to know your team members

Prepare to present

Before you start your presentation, read the case and actualize it if need be. Then, read the entire chapter.

Use the resource file “Tools to Improve Your Presentation Skills”

Do some additional research to ensure that you have a good grasp on the subject

Focus on the questions that you need to answer

Consider the time limitations: Between 6-8 minutes

First Slide: Hook – 15-30 seconds

This is a tool or technique used to gain audience attention in the first 15 to 30 seconds. A person listening to the hook should be able to understand the main point of the presentation, even though he/she would need and want to hear the supporting evidence.

Work on this last!

2nd Slide: Case Summary – 30 to 90 Sec.

Provide a visual (as much as possible) summary of the case that you are going to present:

A picture/image/chart is worth a thousand words

Use bullet points

Use large fonts

3rd Slide: Transition well – build a bridge

Focus on the question that you need to answer

4th Slide: Build your case: 30 Sec.

Build your case using key-concepts from the chapter:

State your hypothesis

Test your hypothesis

Provide evidences/examples

Slide 5-7: Build your case: 2-4 Min.

Find images, trends, and/or analysis regarding the main issues about the case

Use textual references + Additional Research:

Use textbook definitions to help the audience understand the material in the chapter.

Based on the information that you read in the chapter and other research, provide some alternatives/solutions for the question that you are responding to.

Conclusion: 30 seconds to 1 minute

Provide a concise summary of your conclusion(s) and key takeaways

Personalize it!

Apply it to your team’s main project

Q & A: 30 seconds – 1 minute

Based on the information provided, ask your audience two-questions to test their understanding (and show your answers)
