Literature Review –

1. Theme 1. The History Behind Animal Assisted Therapy- please add any more information if you find any on the History behind AAT, please remember has to be UK. (England,Wales) or just try and come to a conclusion to end what I have already written to smooth it out if you can’t find any more information.

2. Theme 2. What is Animal Assisted Therapy? Please add more information onto the work I have done, could include, some ideas:

•The different types of Animal Therapy you can get within the Health and Social Care sector

•Different Animals you can use for AAT

•how common is it today (include statistics) could include a graph to see how much it has become more common over the years.

•Any potential barriers for AAT- e.g risk with animals , allergies from animals, finance of upkeep of the animals.

3. Theme 3. The Benefits of Animal Assisted Therapy. Please add more information onto the work I have done. Use statistics.

•Psychological: could add more info here if you can find some (must be UK) perhaps, how psychological traumas may benefit from AAT. Is it a good connection, beneficial, how could animals support this, could it be something to consider for the future.

•Cognitive Benefits: add more info here from the U.K. How many people has it helped throughout the U.K possible chance to use statistics.

•Emotional support and stress Relief: write about how AAT can benefit this

•Disability: how AAT benefits people with learning difficulties, what is available? e.g RDA (Riding for the disabled) why would people with learning difficulties find it easier to communicate with animals.

Secondary Research- Methodology

What to say;

•My literature Review is done through Evidence based Research. *please can you find a research method book to support the information you say, by putting in definition quotes e.g definition of literature review, definition of evidence based research* (to show understanding in the dissertation)

• My prediction is to find out more about AAT within the Health and Social Care Sector, I will include the history behind AAT, what it is and the benefits for AAT.

•The information that I have provided in my dissertation has come from reputable sources such as ATT books, websites,articles and journals from the U.K.

• I am doing a scoping review *please give definition of scoping review and how I will use a scoping review in my dissertation* ( I’m not sure what it means so please just look it up and say how I could use a scoping review in the dissertation)

• I am also following an action plan that I have made and I find very useful to keep on track on what to include in my work.

• I am using secondary based research, (Why is secondary Research essential in the health and social care sector e.g way of understanding what’s needed, improving services, making changes for the future, policies and procedures to improve, acknowledgement of understanding.)

• Research participants should not be subjected to harm in any ways whatsoever.

Respect for the dignity of research participants should be prioritised.

Full consent should be obtained from the participants prior to the study.

The protection of the privacy of research participants has to be ensured.
