Art448 Annotated BibliographyThe artwork “Towards Disappearance”Sam Francis United States 1957-1958 Paintings,Oil on canvas is to be the focus of an annotated bibliographyAn annotated bibliography is a bibliography that consists of a brief summary and evaluation of each source. This annotated bibliography should include at least eight sources which when pulled together gives the reader a sense of the scholarship on your particular artwork. You will have consulted at least a few of these in preparation for your presentation. Sources Your sources should represent a range of literature: exhibition catalogues scholarly books or monographs interviews journal articles museum website content and others. These can be about the specific artwork about the artist about the period theme or subject matter. You will want to find a balance between all of these. If you are not sure whether a source is credible please take the linked CRAAP testLinks to an external site.. Please see the Library Research Toolkit posted to this module for the current Oviatt Library lending procedures. You also have the option to use Interlibrary loan (ILL) to request scans of articles or chapters from journals and books that are not in the Oviatt’s collection. Organization Your annotated bibliography should open with a paragraph characterizing the literature on your selected artwork; is it vast or limited? What types of sources did you encounter? What are the primary languages? Was the literature mostly published at a certain time or have there been different moments when the artwork has received attention? Next you are to list a bibliographic entry for each of your eight sources (alphabetized by the author’s last name). Each source must be annotated. The annotations should address the following information: the author’s main argument(s) the topics covered its relevance to your artwork (and artist) its relationship to your other sources and any critiques you may have. Each annotation should be one to two paragraphs (roughly 150 words). They must be written in your own words. You do not need a concluding paragraph. Format You may format your annotated bibliography following either MLA or The Chicago Manual of Style Notes and Bibliography format. Please select one of the two style guides and use it consistently.
