Bio 183 Case Study Assignment
Assignment:
You will write a case study that you will then present to the class. The purpose of your case study is to teach other students about the topic you chose. All Case study presentations will be the last day of class July 1st and will be done in Zoom. Your Case study sheet is due in blackboard prior to class that day. Case study presentations will be presented in zoom and 15% of your grade will be based on the presentation and your ability to answer questions posed by other students. Your will have 10-15 minutes to present your case study and work through the questions with the rest of the class
Topics:
You may choose anything within Microbiology as a topic, including topics and diseases we did not cover in class. You may choose a topic we did cover in class but your case study must present new information or a new angle to view that information. You will not get full credit if your case study is too similar to one from the text book or other resource. You may base your case study off an actual clinical situation, or you can make up a clinical or environmental situation. I am here to help with this as well.
Case Study worksheet:
You will turn in a 1-page (front and back) case study worksheet, it cannot be over 1 page and must include your references and questions for discussion. You may choose what style to present your case study (see document case study styles). This case study will include background information on the topic, that is appropriately cited, and a series of 4-5 questions on the topic. These questions should be a mixture of remembering and understanding questions and at least 1 critical thinking question.
Case Study Presentations:
You may choose to present your case study directly from the case study worksheet or by moving that content into power point slides. But keep in mind this is meant to be an interactive discussion. The purpose of case studies for to put information into real life scenarios, so that students are learning the material in a contextual manner.
