Futuristic natural hazard Assignment

Write a report (similar to the way you did the previous discussion topic) about a futuristic natural hazard (tsunami or landslides or volcano). This can take place any time in the future and the actual event or landform can be real or imaginary. Use your science fiction skills and have fun with this discussion. Please get creative with this but remember for full points your report MUST refer to information or material that we have covered in the textbook and also include any references you used.

In the year 1887, the Huang He, which is the China’s second longest river and popularly referred to as Yellow River because of the vast amounts of fine yellow sediments which colors its water overflowed (Zhang, Huang, Carling, and Zhang, 2017). During that time, I got to visit my ancestral village located in Henan province. The flood occurred mainly because the dykes which were found around the City of Zhengzhou had been breached. Significant flooding occurred leaving a lake as big as Lake Erie on the adjacent plain (Lilai, Yuanrong, and Wei, 2016). The area was crowded by people who came with intentions of helping those who were still afloat. They rowed around in small boats, and many victims were reached and taken to the camps that had been erected around. Those who were courageous enough and desperate to stay alive hang on straw barrows and terraces that were on higher grounds and waited for help. The temperature were low because it was around the end of September and the blowing winds made the situation worse.
 
Available boats were very few, and therefore the process of saving victims of the flood was unusually slow. Survivors used the few buildings that were still standing firm and erect. They stood on top of them while waiting for help, Others died while waiting because of hunger and increasing cold. The tall and robust trees which had survived being swept away were full of people, both young and old who clang on the branches while desperately waiting for help. The saddest moment about the flood was when a family that had seen no chance of survival placed their baby on a floating piece of wood and made sure that he was well covered. Luckily enough, the baby was rescued. Crops had been destroyed, and hundreds of cattle were drowned while we watched. Large farms had been destroyed as the irrigation channels were ruined, structures and housing destroyed, and hundreds of families were left destitute. A big camp for those whose houses were washed away was already being built, courtesy of the Chinese government. Free food and medical aid were being administered to ensure safety from possibilities of water-borne diseases. Over nine hundred thousand people were killed from the catastrophe and millions rendered homeless.
