In reading the stolen salamis short stories, the landlord’s salamis are stolen. The Italian states that the stolen goods were sausages, and the landlord corrects him saying they were salamis. A magazine reports about the incident depicting it as a comic event. The magazine manipulates information without considering the repercussions and the feelings of the landlord. The salamis seem to be of value to the landlord and hence corrects that they were salamis and not sausages.
A story told by my friend evoked emotions of sadness and sympathy. I felt like the story was about how we are always searching for love and how dreadful things happen when we least expect them. The story resembles a modern fable of two long-distance lovers who have never met. It’s a tragedy when one of the men dies from a heart attack, and the surviving lover only gets to meet him when he is already dead (Blin, 2017). In the story, the narrator depicts the compatibility of the two men and how they fall in love and form a perfect fit. It indicates how sometimes we search for love only to lose it looking for perfection.
In notes with the long phone conversation with my mother, it indicates a conversation where the woman is listening to her mother express her needs and desire for a cotton summer dress. The variations in the writings of cotton may indicate the daughter’s patients fraying as the mother continue to talk. The daughter is no longer interested in what the mother is saying.
On the train, the story is quite appealing. It indicates how we are quick to judge others but tend to ignore our shortcomings and flaws (Blin, 2017). The narrator is quick to judge the two women who are talking audibly across the aisle; the man is picking his nose, and the narrator states that if they were the ones doing that, they would not report it. The narrator is quick to judge the woman and the man and fails to acknowledge her flaws.
Susie brown will be in town, is about a woman in town to sell her things before she relocates. Weirdly, she intends to sell her bath items, but the story ends with a general tone on the appreciation of her friendship and tennis lessons.
