Action Plan: State Specific Certification Requirements
Grand Canyon University’s Master of Education in Secondary Education with an Emphasis in STEM and Master of Education in Secondary Education with an Emphasis in Humanities programs were built to provide candidates with the pedagogical content needed to teach at the secondary level (Grades 6-12). However, the requirements for these two programs are aligned to meet certification criteria for the state of Arizona. Therefore, you may need additional requirements based on the state where you plan to teach in to obtain certification. The purpose of this assignment is to help you outline your state’s requirements, recognize any deficiencies, and create an action plan so you are prepared to teach in the content area(s) at the secondary level in the state where you plan to teach.
To assist you with this assignment, you will need to research your state’s Department of Education website.
You must plan for this assignment. You may need to reach out to gain more information if your state does not offer much guidance on requirements and this can take time. This is to help ensure you are on the correct path to obtain your desired certification in the state where you plan to teach.
