NEANDERTHALS (HOMO NEANDERTHALENSIS) AND EARLY MODERN HOMO SAPIENS  (CRO MAGNONS)

Illuminate (investigate, illustrate {draw/diagram/photocopy}, describe, and explain) what is known of the anatomical and behavioral characteristics of the extinct species referred to as the Neanderthals (Homo neanderthalensis) and of early modern HOMO SAPIENS (sometimes referred to as the Cro Magnon peoples) when early modern humans (i.e. Cro Magnons) spread across Europe starting about 45,000 years ago. Be sure to include drawings and descriptions of skulls, jaws, post cranial skeletons of both Neanderthals and early modern humans, as well as the stone tools and other artifacts typical of the Neanderthals (the Mousterian Industry) and the artifacts typical of the Cro Magnon’s Upper Paleolithic tool kits, including stone blades, stone and bone spear and harpoon points, ornaments, symbolic objects, carved animal figurines, musical instruments, cave paintings, etc. that are typically found in association with the remains of early modern humans.
