The selected organization is Berger Hospital, whose healthy system’s performance greatly suggests the need for this organization to adopt a robust healthcare planning process. It is important for Berger Hospital to devote its time towards planning because the healthcare industry is without a doubt a fast-paced industry, which demands healthcare organizations to be at pace with the evolving market dynamics by streamlining their operations to meet these dynamics (Esfahani et al., 2018). This is made possible through planning, which will allow the organization to develop agile strategies in response to factors such as technological advancements, economic fluctuations, and changes in healthcare policies, all which affect the hospital’s business operations. With these shifts taking place periodically, it is important for Berger Hospital to have in place a series of long term and short term goals that will keep it grounded amidst the increasing healthcare complexities, and proper planning will enable this.
Additionally, creating more time for planning is necessary if at all Berger Hospital wishes to formulate well-thought out healthcare improvement initiatives which will ensure that the organization consistently delivers care that is not only safer, but reliable and of higher quality to the patients it serves. Among the things that Berger Hospital can accomplish through the panning process is a consumer-centered healthcare. The hospital will be able to put the consumer at the centre of all its strategic plans, and this means that the organization will be adept at providing patient-centered care to its patients. Secondly, Berger Hospital will be able to accomplish effective change management, as suggested by Martin (2018). The planning process will increase the organization’s ability to navigate through changes in its operations. Thirdly, this process will strengthen the organization’s competitive posture. Berger Hospital will be able to develop strategic goals which will elevate the organization’s competitiveness in the healthcare industry.
